While the snow and wind swirled last Friday in the Village of Pelham, police were busy responding to reports of an attempted burglary and an overzealous laborer offering to shovel snow.
Around 8 p.m. Friday night, police responded to a house on Cliff Ave. to find the signs of an unsuccessful entry attempt: a broken basement window and footprints in the snow. The resident received an alarm alert while out of state and asked a relative to check on the house.
A neighbor told police he talked to an older man asking about shoveling snow from the walkway earlier that night.
Police received two other calls Friday night about a man asking residents about snow shoveling. One call came in around 10 p.m. from Washington Ave. and another around 11:30 p.m. from Third Ave.
