Investigation Continues into Pelham Manor Gas Tanker Explosion
Pelham Manor fire officials are still continuing their investigation into the Oct. 7 gas tanker explosion on Secor Lane.
Pelham Manor Fire Chief Joseph Ruggiero said Tuesday that he is hopeful that officials will conclude their investigation into last week’s gas tanker explosion on Secor Lane by the end of the week.
Ruggiero said there was nothing new in the investigation, which is being conducted in conjunction with county officials and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration.
The explosion took place at about 2 a.m. on Oct. 7 when a 5,000-gallon gas tanker was unloading at a Gulf gas station on Secor Lane. The explosion resulted in a fire that destroyed the gas station’s convenience store and portions of Future Automotive, a service station located next to the gas station.
The driver of the gasoline tanker and two gas station attendants were able to escape without injury.
The cause of the explosion is still being determined.
