Three men, including a Brooklyn who is wanted in Ohio on a rape charge, are scheduled to appear in Pelham town court Thursday after they were caught breaking into a car in the parking lot of the in Pelham Manor Sunday.
Pelham Manor police arrested Ryan Griffin, 30, of Brooklyn; Bruce Dernel, 36, of Bridgeport , Conn.; and Raymond Johnson, 28, of Brooklyn and charged them with criminal mischief third-degree, a felony, and criminal possession of burglar tools, a misdemeanor. Johnson is also wanted in Hamilty County, Ohio on arrest warrant for rape that was filed in March.
Shortly after 6 p.m., a man said he saw the three suspect breaking into his vehicle. The drivers side window of the car had been broken and it appeared that they were trying to steal a guitar in the back seat of the vehicle. It also appeared as if the car’s ignition was tampered with, according to police.
The suspects fled when the car’s owner spotted them and ran across Boston Post Road, into the Bronx. The victim called Pelham Manor police, who eventually spotted the suspects and pursued them with help from Pelham police
The men ran through Mc Owen Avenue to Hollers Avenue and then ran through a backyard to Huguenot Avenue, where they were eventually caught.
They were arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail. Griffin was given a bail of $2,500, while Dernel was given a $5,000 bail and Johnson was given a $25,000 bail. Even if Johnson makes bail, he will still be held on the Ohiowarrant.
