A glance at recent investigations by the Pelham Manor Police Department.

Questionable Workmen

April 27

2:20 p.m.  A black male rang the rear door doorbell of a Pelhamdale Avenue home and told the housekeeper that he was there to fix the boiler. The housekeeper advised the man to call the homeowner. The suspect repeatedly asked the housekeeper to open the door, until the housekeeper went to the telephone--that's when the suspect fled. The suspect was described as an African American male in late 20s or early 30s, about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. He was wearing a light blue long sleeve work shirt, dark blue work pants, and a navy Yankees cap.

Suspicious Safes

April 26

3:35 a.m. Pelham Manor police reported to the Lukoil parking lot on Boston Post Road to investigate why there was a safe was left in the parking lot and a hole in the building. The owner of the property informed the police that the safe is actually garbage and the building is undergoing renovations.

Debit Card Fraud

April 26

A Water Street resident reported to Pelham Manor police that her Chase debit card had been used fraudulently at the Fairway Wine and Spirits store.  According to the victim, a purchase of $561 was made at 1:50 p.m. on April 22. The victim said she has never been in the store. Even though the victim is still in possession of the debit card, she has had previous trouble with the card being used at a gas station.  Fairway security said it would investigate the case and Pelham Manor detectives were notified.

Stolen Bike

April 23

On April 22, a Mitchell Place resident arrived home at 8 p.m., left the garage door open and forgot to shut it for two hours. When the resident returned to close the door, he noticed a Cannondale bicycle, worth $900, to be missing. He reported the crime the following day.
