Pelham Manor Police Blotter: Crack Possession; Parking Lot Fight and Identity Theft

Arrest for Crack Possession, May 6

 A 52-year-old New Rochelle man was arrested Sunday after he was caught with 1.4 grams of crack cocaine.

Police arrested Peter Manny, 52 of New Rochelle, and charged him criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony at about 2 a.m.

A patrol officer observed Manny riding his bicycle east on Boston Post Road, near the  Highland Avenue and stopped him because he was driving erratically. Manny was allegedly cutting traffic and zigzagging the double yellow line.  

The officer tried to issue Manny a ticket for failing to keep right on a bicycle, but Manny was unable to produce any identification. Upon furthering questioning, Manny nervously revealed that he had left the Bronx and was on his way home.

The officer said Manny looked nervous and kept changing his story during the questioning. Eventually, Manny admitted that he was in possession of crack cocaine.

Police searched Manny’s pockets and found five small packages of crack. Manny was arrested, arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail with bail set at $2,500.

Manny is scheduled to appear in Pelham town court on Thursday.

Rugby Player Injured, May 5
A rugby player was injured Saturday, May 5, after he was hit by another player at the New York Athletic Club at Travers Island.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at about 3 p.m. after they received a report that a rugby player was temporarily knocked unconscious after his head hit another player’s elbow during a game.

Emergency officials assisted the player and and Empress Ambulance transported him to Jacobi Medical Center for further evaluation.

Assault at Fairway Lot, May 5
A man New Rochelle man told police he was assaulted in the front of Fairway Market Saturday by the ex-husband of a woman he used to date.

The victim flagged down a police officer who was patrolling through the parking lot at about 8 p.m. and reported the assault. The victim said his attacker punched him twice on the right side of the face and choked him before fleeing the scene.

Police canvassed the area, but they were unable to find the suspect and the case was still under investigation.

$240 in Cash Found, Brought to Police, May 4
On Friday, May 4, police received a report from Fairway Market that an employee found 17 $20 bills on the floor.

A review of the store’s security camera showed that a woman had dropped the money on the floor earlier that day. All attempts to contact the woman turned out to be unsuccessful and the money was brought to the police department.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office advised the police department that the cash can be held for a reasonable amount of time before the finder can claim it.

The cash was sealed and is being held by the Pelham Manor Police Department until it is claimed.

Identity Theft, March 29

On Sunday, March 29, police received a report a from a Pelham Manor woman who claimed that her estranged husband forged her name took out a line of credit from Citibank in 2008.

The woman said she found out about the line of credit recently after she received statement from Citibank. The woman owned a company with her husband, but her husband had primary access to the mail delivered to their business address.

The woman alleged that her husband opened the account without her knowledge. The couple are currently in the process of getting a divorce and they live in separate addresses.

Police were unable to interview the husband at the time the complaint was made and the case remains under investigation.
