Pelham Manor Police Blotter: Man Hits Female Companion with Car, Angry Customer Smashes Credit Card Swiper

Suspicious Man, 7/19/11

6:22 p.m.: Police received a call from a homeowner at 1446 Roosevelt Avenue in Pelham Manor stating that his two young children were playing in the front yard and a man in white vehicle with black tint had stopped in front of the property. The man appeared to attempt to lure the two young children toward his vehicle. The children’s older brother then came outside and yelled out to the children. The man then drove away down Shore Road.

Trespassing, 7/18/11

12:24 p.m.: A Wolf’s Lane resident called police and said her au pair saw an unknown man in her kitchen talking on his cell phone. The au pair was in her room on the third floor of the home when she heard someone on the first floor. She said it sounded like an intruder was talking to someone he knew on the phone. The au pair then ran downstairs. When she got to the bottom of the stairs, she saw a man in the kitchen. She asked the intruder what he was doing in the home and he immediately ran out of the back door and left in a green minivan, which was parked in front of the house. The man is described as white and 6’0” tall with light brown hair, a white cap and T-shirt and dark sunglasses.

Card Declined, Angry Customer Smashes Credit Card Swiper, 7/16/11 

1:45 p.m.: A Shell gas station employee told police that an irate customer smashed his credit card machine. The man had tried to use his card at one of the gas pumps, but when the card would not work he spoke to one of the station’s employees, who told him his card had been declined.

He then became angry and reached into the open cash drawer and pulled out the credit card swiper. He then proceeded to smash the card swiper on the ground before driving off in a silver Toyota Camry. The incident was caught on video.

 

Man Hits Female Companion with Car After Argument, 7/16/11

6:30 p.m.: A car hit a woman near the Pelham Parkway entrance to Post Road Plaza. She told police that the car’s driver, whom she had asked for a ride to BJ’s Wholesale Club, struck her from behind.

As they were traveling to BJ’s, the victim and the man got into an argument. The argument escalated and the woman said she became afraid because of the suspect’s behavior, so she exited the car and decided to walk home. While walking home through the parking lot at Fairway, she was struck from behind by the driver’s 2001 BMW. After hitting her, the suspect continued to drive approximately 150 yards to the vicinity of the Citibank, where he stopped and then returned to the scene. The woman sustained multiple injuries to her head and body. Several witnesses saw the incident and it was also caught on video.
