Police: Pelham Physician Charged with DWI After Leaving Scene of Accident

Dr. Warren W. Geisler, 61, accused of hitting a car while driving drunk on Taconic State Parkway on Sunday.

A Pelham physician was charged with a drunken after striking a vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway and fleeing the scene on Sunday, according to State Police.

At around 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, Dr. Warren W. Geisler, 61, hit a car from behind at the entrance ramp to the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of East Fishkill, according to New York State Police. Geisler attempted to leave the scene, but was stopped by a state trooper at the Pudding Street intersection at Putnam Valley.

While interviewing him, the trooper noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Geisler's breath.  The trooper administered several field sobriety tests, which Geisler failed, State Police said.

Geisler was arrested and his vehicle was impounded.

The Pelham doctor was brought to the State Police barracks in Stormville, where he refused to submit to a breath test.  Geisler was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated, traffic violatiopns and leaving the scene of a property-damage auto accident.  He was released to a family member pending a hearing in Town of East Fishkill Court on June 29.
