Pelham Police: Armed Robberies Still Under Investigation

Police are still searching for clues in a series of armed robberies that have taken place near train stations in Pelham, Mamaroneck and Harrison.

Pelham Police Detective John Hynes said Wednesday that there was nothing new to report in the department’s investigation of two armed robberies that took place near the train station last month.

Police are searching for the suspect in a series of armed robberies that have taken place in Pelham, Mamaroneck, Harrison and New Rochelle.

The Pelham robberies took place on Jan. 12 and January 31.  In both cases, a man approached the victims as they were walking from the train, brandished a hand gun, forced the victims to the ground and fled the scene with the proceeds of the robbery.

Hynes said he believed that a robberies that took place and along with another robbery that may be connected to the Pelham robberies. Police are also looking into another robbery that took .

Hynes said his department is working with other police agencies in an effort to share information and, eventually, catch the suspect of suspects involved.

Pelham Manor Police Chief Al Mosiello said his department is providing a patrol car during the evenings to help monitor the Pelham train station and prevent other robberies from taking place. Mosiello said Wednesday he wasn’t sure if the Pelham Manor patrol car that is being assigned to the Pelham train station will be equipped with a license plate reader.

Pelham village police have said that they would employ a license plate reader in order to sift out any suspicious vehicle in the area.

Aaron Donovan, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transit Authority, said that MTA police have also been involved with the investigation, but he declined to say the frequency MTA police will be patrolling the local train stations.

“The police can’t be everywhere all the time, but we try to have a robust coverage," Donovan said.
