Pelham Police Blotter: Choking Girl Rescued; Man's Cell Phone Service Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Pelham Manor police department's blotter. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction. The Pelham Patch typically doesn't release the names of individuals charged with misdemeanors.

Fire on Corona Avenue, July 11
Police responded assistance at the scene . at about 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was ruled as accidental.

Stolen Cell Phone Service, July 10
A Boulevard resident contacted Pelham police on July 10 after his cell phone service was shut off and an iPhone was shipped to Ohio in his name.

Earlier in the day, the victim received a call from the manager of a Comfort Inn located in Twinsburg, Ohio about a package that was delivered to the hotel. The call back number on the package was the same as the victim’s number.

The victim assumed the call was a mistake and hung up. Later in the day, Verizon cut service to his iPhone.

The reason Verizon gave for cutting off phone service was that an insurance claim had been made for another iPhone that was shipped to Twinsburg, Ohio.

The victim tried to call the hotel manager, but she had left for the day and the incident remained under the investigation by police.

Aid Given to Choking Girl, July 7
At about 6:48 p.m. on July 7, Officer Michael Sheehy responded to call at the Dunkin Donuts on Lincoln Avenue for a report of 4-year-old girl choking.

When Sheehy arrived, he saw that the girl had a zip tie wrapped around her neck. Sheehy cut the zip tie and the girl began to breath normally.

The girl was transported to Sound Shore Medical Center for a medical evaluation.
