Pelham Police Blotter: Fraud, Harassment and Car Break-Ins

Women Alerts Police of Strange, Unsettling Ocurrences, June 19, 2012
A Pelham woman told police that she believes that she’s been the victim of theft and vandalism during the course of the past few days. The woman, who resides on Third Avenue, told police that the paperwork for her dog Tinks was missing along with the keys to her home and car. She also reported that her credit card was taken from her kitchen table at about 3 p.m. on June 19 and that someone had keyed her car in the recent past. The incident remains under investigation.

Car Break-In, June 14, 2012
A man reported to police that his car was broken into sometime between 9 p.m. on June 14 and 7 a.m, on June 15 at the parking lot located on 445 First Avenue. Loose change and gift certificate for Nicholas Day Spa were taken. The incident is one have been reported to police in the past few weeks. Police are advising residents to make sure they lock their car doors at night.

Fraud Attempt, June 14, 2012
A Pelham man received a phone call at about 2 p.m. from a man claiming to be his son’s lawyer. The caller told the man that his son was imprisoned in Peru and needed $1,600 in order to be bailed out. After hanging up, the man called his son, who was at work in New York City, and then called Pelham police. The case remains under investigation.

Woman Harassed on Fifth Avenue, June 12, 2012
A woman reported to police that she was approached by man near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Second Street at about 9:22 p.m. The woman told police the man tried to speak to her against her will, but eventually left after being rebuffed. Although the man did not threaten her, she said he spoke to her in a threatening manner. She also said the same man has approached her in the past. Police went to the scene of the incident, but the suspect was gone upon their arrival.
