Pelham Police Blotter: Social Media Harassment, Shoplifting and Damaged Property

The following information was supplied by the Pelham Police Department. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Here’s a rundown on recent police incidents in Pelham:

Social Media Harassment, 8/9/11

1:52 p.m.: An officer responded to a home on 5th Avenue regarding a previous report of aggravated harassment. A woman told police that on several previous occasions her ex-boyfriend had gotten into her Facebook account and added nude pictures and posted derogatory comments. The victim changed her password but her ex still hacked into her account. She attempted to contact Facebook to close her account. When officers contacted the ex, he denied the allegations but told the officer that the woman continues to text him and call his job. The ex alleges that the woman sent him a text message stating that he didn’t hack her account but a mutual friend did.

Shoplifting at DeCicco’s, 8/8/11

6:58 p.m.:  The owner of DeCicco’s Supermarket on 5th Avenue told police that there were two shoplifters in his store. The shoplifters had fled the store, heading north on 5th Avenue. Police ultimately found and arrested the shoplifters at C-Town Supermarket, after the store’s employees discovered them hiding in the store driveway in front of a parked blue van. The manager of DeCicco’s identified both suspects, saying that he saw one of them steal a pack of steaks from the store.

 

Damaged Property, 8/7/11

8:00 a.m.: A Young Avenue resident reported that a car had struck a fire hydrant at some point during the night. An officer found a license plate at the scene and a DMV check located the suspect’s vehicle. Police issued a summons to the suspect for leaving the scene of an accident, which caused property damage. Police contacted the county about the dislodged hydrant.
