Police: Argument Over Dinner Leads to Arrest

A Westchester man and his niece are brought to police headquarters on the heels of a brawl.

A spat between an uncle and niece over what to eat for dinner ended in a domestic violence arrest Thursday of last week, White Plains cops said.

Police responded to reports of family members fighting on Broad Street around 2:30 p.m., authorities said. After difficulty questioning the uncle, 48, and niece, 28, due to a language barrier, police took the two to headquarters.

Authorities soon learned the uncle had grabbed his niece by the neck, and she defended herself by scratching, biting and kicking him, police told Patch.

At police headquarters, the uncle refused to be evaluated by medical professionals, and the niece refused treatment, police said.

The uncle was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and menacing in the third degree,  both misdemeanors.
