Police: Discarded Suitcase Might Contain Human Remains

Yonkers police are investigating a suspicious suitcase that was found in a residential neighborhood located off Sprain Road Monday.

Yonkers police are trying to determine if a suspicious suitcase that was found Monday in the area of Sprain Road and Chatham Terrace contains human remains.

City workers from the Department of Public Works found the suitcase in some brush at about 1:40 p.m. Detective Lieutenant Patrick McCormack said the incident remains under investigation and police are still in the process of determining what was inside the suitcase.

The Westchester County Medical Examiner has already taken possession of the remains and is expected to do an examination Tuesday morning.

Police were still investigating the scene Monday evening. McCormack said the department will release an update on the investigation Tuesday.
