Police: Pelham Police Turn in Dog Tied on Sparks Ave.

It shouldn't happen to a dog. Man turns in dog he found tied under a bridge.

Here's a story that doesn't have a happy ending just yet.

According to police reports, a Mount Vernon man went into Pelham Village police headquarters with a dog he says he found tied to the Sparks Ave. footbridge last Monday around 1 p.m. 

The animal had no tags or other identifiers. The police notified the New Rochelle Humane Society.

The dog is a pit bull terrier and has been receiving care at the shelter for the past week, said Anna-Lena Larsson of the New Rochelle Humane Society. He will soon be evaluated to determine if he's suitable for adoption.
