Smashburger Heist Details Emerge, $11K Taken

NYPD says case is open.

The NYPD is actively searching for a suspect in Monday's brazen parking lot heist outside Smashburger on Boston Post Rd.

An NYPD police spokesman said Tuesday that a black male suspect reportedly made off with as much as $11,000 cash. 

According to details provided by the NYPD the man approached a woman in her car parked at 4324 Boston Post Rd. The man reportedly said to the woman, "You dropped your money." When the woman exited her vehicle, the man reached inside her car and took a bag containing the cash.

The investigation is active. NYPD would not comment on whether there were any suspects or pending arrests at this time.

Smashburger opened in Pelham Manor this past June.
