Village of Pelham Police Blotter: Marijuana Possession and Taxi Attacks

A glance at recent investigations by the Village of Pelham Police Department.

3/22/11

9:03 a.m. Officers responded to a call regarding "suspicious youths" hanging out in a secluded section near the Hutchinson River Parkway, close to where First Street turns into First Avenue. Upon arrival, officers met three youngsters who said they were "just hanging out." The officers searched the area and found a blue lighter and a small black box containing marijuana. The tree youths were brought to the Pelham Police Department. The female in the group said the drugs were hers and she was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana. The drugs were turned over to Pelham detectives and the youths’ parents were contacted.

4:15 p.m. Pelham Police received a call that a man walking near the intersection of Highbrook Avenue and Boulevard had a rifle (or shotgun) slung over his shoulder. A unit was sent to investigate. When officers arrived, they found that the supposed gun was actually an umbrella.

12:05 a.m. Pelham Police received a call from a motorist traveling along Fifth Avenue that an obviously intoxicated individual stumbled into a vehicle. The motorist described the vehicle as a black Honda CRV.  All units were alerted and canvassed the area. However, the black CRV was no longer in the area once officers arrived.

10:20 p.m. Pelham Police received a call about a suspicious man dressed like a woman sitting on the courthouse steps. Units responded, talked to the man, and then sent him on his way.

3/17/11

11:06 p.m.  Pelham Police received a call that a taxi had been vandalized near the Sandborn Map Building on Fifth Avenue.  According to the Empress City Taxi driver, the driver had been approached by a black male at the driver’s side window of the taxi. The driver told police that two unidentified males kicked the cab’s back passenger doors. One of the unidentified males jumped on top of the cab and destroyed the taxi light. The police were informed that the three males escaped in a dark colored pick up truck with a cab on the back of it.
