Pelham woman remains hospitalized following Saturday morning fire on Sixth Ave.

A Pelham woman remains hospitalized after a Saturday morning fire at 511 Sixth Avenue in Pelham. According to police, the woman was transported to Jacobi Medical Center with serious injuries. No update on her medical condition was available Sunday night.

The Pelham Fire Department and units from surrounding towns responded to a call from a multiple-family dwelling at 511 Sixth Avenue on the Pelham-Mount Vernon border at approximately 8:55 a.m.

American Red Cross spokesperson Caroline Sherwin said Sunday that occupants in three dwellings had been displaced by the fire. The family of the injured woman, including her teenaged son, is receiving ongoing assistance from a mental health professional.
