Pelham Manor's Trustees Ratify Mandee's New Awning and DPW's doors

Local retail business and government buildings receive OKs for upgrades.

The Village of Pelham Manor Board of Trustees meeting last night approved two proposals—one private and one public—at a meeting that began promptly at 8:15 p.m. and ended swiftly at 9 p.m.

Mandee’s at Post Road Plaza Shopping Center Gets Necessary Improvements

  • The Board approved upgrades for Mandee’s, a clothing store for young women.  The 7,500 sq. ft. brick and mortar store is located at 875 Pelham Pkwy. in the Post  Road Plaza.  The building will get a new awning and signage so that it can blend with the surrounding businesses.  Mandee’s originally had a metal awning around the store perimeter.  “It will now have a black awning that will be distinguished from the green color of Fairway, and red of Modell’s,” said Village Manager John Pierpont.

  • The head of the Department of Public Works is recommending the purchase of three new garage doors from Burchett Door & Lock  Ltd.  “The company offers a mid-price bid but it's cheap, they offer superior construction and superior R value,” said Pierpont. The doors are also energy-efficient. After extensive research, the chief also recommends purchasing manual, not electric, doors for the time being; the price would be $10,600, Pierpont said.  This winter the current doors became an issue during snow removal.
