Search for Paramount Management Team Moves Forward

City hopes to have new management team in place by next month.

Peekskills officials plan to hold a series of data-gathering meetings with the parties interested in managing the Paramount Center for the Performing Arts  in the next two weeks.

Inititially, officials had set a goal of having an operator in place by Jan. 14 and the theater reopened by  Feb. 1. But that timeline now appears to be off by a few weeks.

Bob Knight, a spokesman for the city, said remained deeply committed to finding the right manager/operator to help the Paramount Theater realize its full potential.

“City leaders are working with a sense of urgency to identify a new leadership team for the Paramount Theater that will act in the best interest of the City, its residents and Peekskill's Downtown business community,” Knight said.

The center has been out operation since the original management team closed its doors in October. The move was made after the theater failed to reach its fundraising goal for the year.

Three interested parties submitted proposals to operate the theater last month,  officials have  declined to name who they are.

“The city will not be releasing the names of the proposers as a significant amount of information is proprietary to each proposer and is not ready to be made public,” Knight said.

I'm looking forward to Hugo's 2019 grand re-opening. I've already placed my dinner order: shrimp cocktail appetizer, baked ziti entree and three Bud Lites. I hope they keep it fresh. Then a short hop across the street to see the Pink Floyd Experience. The pig will fly again.

Try contacting the Capitol Theatre management & tell them what happened. Also Fab Faux management; doing either/both might help you out.

2019? Get real. Six years from now? What will happen in the interim? Will it be a methadone clinic? At least taxpayers would be off the hook.
