After serving as district treasurer and accountant for 18 years, Richard Crompton announced his retirement at Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, where he was recognized for his distinguished service. “It was a great experience here and it’s going to be tough to leave,” said Crompton who is also a graduate of Pelham Memorial High School.

Fate of the Former NYW&B Railway

Village Hall will tackle the ongoing question of what to do with the former NYW&B railway in Pelham. Some want to see the two-acre railbed morph into a passive walk-through, others don't. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m., and yes, we will be there.

Pack up Charity Goods for Purim

To usher in the joyous Purim holiday, the is teaming up with the UJA-Federation and AmeriCorps to kick off “Pack it up for Purim.” This charitable initiative aims to honor one of Purim’s main traditions—to offer up festive food packages to those in need.

Get involved by packing up a grocery bag (with the items listed below) and bring it over to the PJC so that they can get delivered to the Bronx Jewish Community Council. Donations accepted through March 10. Questions? Reach out to Rachel Collens at rachelcollens@optonline.net or 914-738-4160.

1 box of whole‐grain cereal or oatmeal

1 box of pasta

1 can of vegetables (carrots, tomatoes, corn)

1 package dried beans (or 1 can of peas or beans)

1 bottle 100% fruit juice

1 jar of peanut butter (plastic container only)

1 dessert (non‐perishable)
