Celebrating Dr. Seuss, Reading and "Mulberry Street"

Jefferson Valley Mall hosts anniversary event

Center Court at The Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown was the place to be Saturday afternoon as The Cat in the Hat stopped by to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of the publishing of Dr. Suess's first book.

Children decorated festive crowns to wear and watched episodes of "The Cat in the Hat" before The Cat himself made several appearances to meet and greet the smiling kids.

Yorktown School District superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano read several Dr. Suess books to the crowd and then asked questions of the young readers to see who was a good listener, awarding prizes to those who answered the questions correctly.

The event culminated in a parade around the lower court, led by The Cat in the Hat.
