Corlies Lot Changes Discussed at Pelham School Board Meeting
The additional plantings and green space will add cost to the project.
Redoing and repairing the Corlies parking lot at the Pelham Memorial High School was the subject of discussion at Monday's board of education meeting.
Superintendent Peter Giarrizzo laid out the designs the district is considering, some of which were created by the school system and others by community groups.
He said there are priorities in the project that will lead to a determination.

The lot must be repaired, Giarrizzo said, and any design must be code compliant.
He said it was in the district's best interest to increase the parking capacity when possible.

"All the designs include additional cost," Giarrizzo said, ranging from $28,000 to $35,000.
The design options that are under consideration can be found on the district's Web site.
Giarrizzo said that the Pelham Preservation Society, which had asked that more green space and trees be added to the design, will donate $22,000 to the district to help make the enhancements.
"I am confident that we will be able to come to a resolution which addresses the addition of green space to the design," he said, "while also maintaining the practical functionality of the parking lot."
