Iona College Names Assistant Basketball Coach

Erickson is a former Monroe College assistant coach.

Iona College men's basketball head coach Tim Cluess has chosen Brock Erickson as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season. 

Erickson comes to New Rochelle from State College Florida Manatee and replaces Zak Boisvert who left for a job at Fairleigh Dickinson.

Cluess said the school was excited to have Erickson on board.

"His tireless work ethic and knowledge of the game will be a tremendous asset to the program," he said.

According to Cluess, in Erickson's one season at SCF, he led the Manatees to a No. 8 ranking in the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). The program led the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in scoring with a 95.1 ppg average. SCF captured the 2013 Suncoast Conference Tournament title and qualified for the state tournament for the third time in 15 years.

Prior to State College Florida, Erickson served as an assistant coach at Monroe College in New Rochelle. His Mustang squad played at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS in each of his last three seasons at Monroe. 

From 2004 to 2006, Erickson was the assistant coach at the College of Eastern Utah when the team had the highest win total over a two-year period in the college’s history. As assistant coach at City College of New York from 2001 to 2004, his team had the most wins in a season since 1950.

Erickson played college ball for two seasons at the University of Rhode Island under former Boston College coach Al Skinner before joining the basketball team at Assumption College in Worcester, MA.
