Committee determines that Doug Hearle, Madeline Smith, Christine Rosskopf and Michael Recca are qualified to run for the Pelham Board of Education.

The Citizens Nominating Committee (CNC) has completed its interviews for the upcoming Board of Education (BOE) elections.

For the first time in a number of years the CNC did not have to consider a candidate running for a third term. The CNC’s by-laws state that only under special circumstances should a candidate be considered for a third term.

The qualifications that the CNC considers in a candidate for BOE include:

  1. Knowledge of current local community issues as they affect the Pelham public education system.
  2. General interest in education and a belief in the public school system.
  3. Ability and willingness to execute faithfully the duties of a member of the Board of Education.

The findings of the CNC do not constitute an endorsement of any candidate or candidates; rather it is the judgment of the committee members that the candidates meet the above qualifications.
