Michael Recca, a life-long resident of Pelham and graduate of Pelham schools, announces his candidacy for the May 15 Pelham school board election.

Michael has lived in both villages and benefited from the excellent education at Prospect Hill Elementary, Pelham Middle School and Pelham Memorial High. As President of his high school class for four years from 2002 to 2006 he ably and responsibly represented the interests of students and served on Board of Education’s Parking Committee, which made recommendations regarding land use on and adjacent to the Pelham Middle School and High School.

Michael also led the Superintendent’s Student Council, which interviewed and made recommendations on the four finalists to be the next principal of Pelham Memorial High School. In June 2011, in memory of classmate Aaron Rossman, he organized the StrikeOUT CF Fundraiser which raised over $ 51,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

A graduate of Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance, Michael currently works in financial administration for the Westchester County Department of Social Services. He works directly for the Deputy Commissioner in preparing the annual budget – the largest budget in County Government.

Michael’s long involvement and depth of understanding of Pelham schools, commitment to the town and the villages, and knowledge and experience in budgetary matters make him an ideal candidate for the school board.
