Pelham BOE Resumes Budget Review Monday Night

Residents may question and comment on the proposed 2013-2014 school budget.

Members of the Pelham Board of Education will resume their review of the proposed 2013-2014 school budget Monday night. The budget submitted by interim superintendent Dr. Charles Wilson requests a 4.01 percent increase in spending and a 3.97 percent increase in the tax levy.

During last Saturday's day long session, several recommendations were made that would require spending rather than saving money in the proposed budget "including the reinstatement of a full time psychologist, a middle school program for students with special needs, the addition of more games for modified sports and a request for a junior varsity ice hockey team" noted a letter from the board summarizing the workshop discussion.

Residents will be able to make comment on the meeting that starts at 8 p.m. in Alumni Hall of Pelham Memorial High School, 575 Colonial Ave. There will be another opportunity for residents to weigh in with comments this week on Friday, March 15 at a 'Board Coffee' at J Café, formerly the MAD Café, on Wolfs Lane.
