Pelham Grads Headed to Diverse Schools

Ninety-three percent of the students applied to colleges or universities.

With graduation for the 2013 class of Pelham Memorial High School coming Saturday, the school district released a list of colleges where the soon-to-be former students were accepted for college or university study.

The schools include Boston University, Brandeis University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Colorado at Boulder, Eastman School of Music, Fordham University, George Washington University, Iona College, Marist College, New York University, Pennsylvania State University, State University of New York at New Paltz, Tulane University and Westchester Community College.

Gene Farrell, the high school's director of guidance, said the class found a variety of wonderful fits. He said 93 percent of the student body have applied to colleges.

"The diversity of Pelham high school college acceptances truly reflects the diversity of our students and their wide range of interests," he said. "Next year's college attendees have declared majors in physician assistant programs, international relations, education, biochemistry, vocal performance, engineering and radiology technology."
