Key to Awesomeness:

Although Broege goes to school in nearby Pelham, the fourth grader spends quite a lot of time in the surrounding area, volunteering her time to help others through the Junior League of Bronxville—which offers various community service opportunities for its members’ kids.

Recently, Broege helped the JLB raise money for the Pajama Program.

“I met Genevieve [Pitturo, the founder] of the Pajama Program at a [JLB] meeting and she really inspired me to help,” Broege explains. “I talked to my Junior Girl Scout Troop #1666, we had a bake sale and raised over $400 in one hour to go toward new pajamas for kids.”

Helping others is something Broege not only enjoys, but feels is necessary to do.

“Volunteering makes me feel happy. One girl told Genevieve she didn’t know what pajamas were—now she will know what they are,” Broege says.

Along with the Pajama Program, Burge has also participated in Project Linus.

“I volunteered for Project Linus, making fleece security blankets for little kids when they go into the hospital,” Broege says.

When she is not volunteering with the JLB, Broege can be found writing for her school’s newspaper.

Broege beams, saying, “I love writing! It’s my favorite thing to do and I am really good at it!”
