Camardella, a junior first baseman, was named to the first team, while Blake and Christensen received second-team honors.

Camardella led the team in hits, batting average, doubles, slugging percentage and on-base percentage in the regular season, finishing second in RBI.

Camardella ranks eighth in CACC in batting average, while leading the CACC in doubles and ranks in the top ten in the nation in doubles per game.  Last season he was named to the all-CACC second team.

The Chargers, seeded No. 3 in the CACC Championship Tournament, lost to second-seeded, host Wilmington University, 1-0, in first-round action at New Castle, DE. Dominican was held to one hit, and lost when Wilmington pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth inning after sophomore Ryan Calby of Huntington Station had thrown eight scoreless innings, allowing just five hits and striking out five. Freshman Matt Festa of Staten Island took the loss, his first of the season.

Elementary Flag Team Sweeps Games at Second Chelsea Waterside Tournament

The elementary flag rugby team swept the field Sunday at the second Chelsea Waterside Park tournament, beating P.S. 208 6-5, Epiphany 4-3 and Rockaway 5-4.

The eight on Pelham’s squad played consistently well throughout the afternoon. They showed that they learned a lot from their weekly practices, forming strong lines, passing the ball, trying not to bunch up too much, running fast and displaying excellent sportsmanship with each other and their competitors.

All the games were played hard, and each try was well-earned and well-deserved for both Pelham and those they were competed against.

Before the games and during breaks in tournament play, the Pelham team did drills with Nicholas, a player from Pelham’s middle school flag and tackle teams.

The roster: Elliot Brandler, Guy Eustace, Grant Roll, Justin O’Beirne, Luca Phillips, Marco Gracie, Max Mullen and Peter Monaco.

Weekly Sports Poll:

At the beginning of the series we asked you how the Rangers would do against the Washington Capitals. After New York dropped game six the series returns to Madison Square Garden this weekend in a win or go home game seven.

Joe Girardi and the Yankees turned to Rafael Soriano in the ninth inning of last night’s 5-3 victory against the Rays. David Robertson is 1-1 in save chances this year and Soriano closed out the only game he has attempted so far, however the question still remains
