The 28th annual Summer Olympics wil take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Glover Field.

To quote rapper-turned-actor Will Smith, ‘it’s summer time’ and the Pelham Civic Association is kicking off the season with its 28th annual “Summer Olympics.”

The annual event takes place this Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Glover Field track, invites children in grades Kindergarten through 5 to take place in an assortment of competitive events involving running, kicking and throwing. There will also be fun rides like the “Giant Water Slide” thrown in for good measure.

Glover Field is located off East Sanford Boulevard, near the Target and Bed, Bath Beyond Complex in Mount Vernon.

“It's a chance each year for Pelham kids throughout the entire Town to come together under one banner called ‘fun’,” said Tom Imperato, the event chairman. “It doesn't matter what sport you prefer, the Olympics is a celebration of fun and games and stress-free competition. Everybody wins.''
