Pelham Teen Excels in the Water
Swimmer Ian Bidwell, 14, of Pelham, scored impressive swimming victories at the Huntington Cold Spring Harbor Two Mile Open Water Swim and Governor's Island Swim this summer.
Pelham resident Ian Bidwell has been a speed demon in the water this summer.
Bidwell, a 14-year-old rising sophomore at Fordham Preparatory School and a member of the Westchester Aquatic Club, scored two impressive swimming victories the last two months.
On June 24, Bidwell swam two miles in 29 minutes and 47.4 seconds to win the Huntington Cold Spring Harbor 2 Mile Open Water Swim events at West Neck Beach in Huntington.
He followed that up by winning the Governors Island Swim on July 28. Bidwell swam two miles in 39 minutes and 47 seconds to beat a field of more than 300 swimmers. Competitors from as far away as Dublin, Ireland competed in the event.
