[POLL]Do You Like the Direction Pelham School Officials are Going with Their Math Curriculum Review?

Do you think the Pelham school board's decision to contract with faculty from other universities to review its math program is a good idea?

The Pelham school board is in the process of to review the district’s math curriculum.

The contract is expected to cost no more than $18,000 and the work is expected to begin next month.

“Investigation in Number, Data and Space,” the district’s elementary school math curriculum, has been a concern for many parents, who believe the learning plan is too abstract and doesn’t spend enough time on a traditional, systematic algorithm-based learning and homework.

An independent committee of parents with the mission of getting the district to switch to another math curriculum. The committee has recently expressed concern that universities chosen to do the curriculum review have already proven to be proponents of Investigation in the past and are incapable of giving and unbiased assessment.
