Pelham Turkey Bowl VI is only 31 days away....

Pelham Turkey Bowl VI is fast approaching!!!!

I don't know about you, but Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year. It's about family, friends, food and football. For the past 5 years, we Pelhamites have taken this day to new heights. Picture this: You wake up to a crisp and cool Turkey Day morning, you grab your cup of coffee and head over to the Prospect Hill School field. Upon arrival you see a crowd gathering around the home of Nancy and Tom Walsh for what is the beginning of a truly great Pelham day.

Food, from MAD Cafe lines the tables, and there are plenty of beverage delights for young, and old (hey, it's noon somewhere). Neighbors are..well neighborly and children come from all over town. Why are they here? Sure the food and drink is nice, but the real reason is to see a bunch of 'has beens' and some 'never weres' do battle for the 'Captains Cup'!!!!

For those unaware, in a couple of weeks, Tom Walsh, Terry Connor, Dave Ammorelli, and I, will convene to draft teams for this year's version. It's 'touch football' at its finest. But unlike Pelham Rec Sports, not everyone gets a trophy. So, even though the tension can sometimes be a bit thick as tempers flare and normally subdued competitive streaks come to light, in the end we are there to celebrate sportsmanship (ok that's a crock of...) and raise some money for local charities and first responders.

If you're interested in participating, please respond to this post, or contact any of the 4 captains personally (the only rule: you have to be of 'legal drinking age' to play) We'd love you to play, but if football isn't your thing, come on out and say hello on Thanksgiving morning. It's a great event.
