AAA Warning: The Hutch Bridge Repair Potential "Carpocalypse"

A deck replacing project on The Hutch over Rte 1 in Pelham Manor is being accelerated into a 96-hour window: Construction will begin Tuesday, August 6th and is scheduled to be completed by Saturday, August 10th.

AAA New York is warning drivers that they may face significant delays on Interstate 95 and the Hutchinson River Parkway as a result of an upcoming bridge repair project.

The New York State DOT is replacing the deck of the Hutchinson River Parkway bridge over Boston Post Road (Route 1) in the Village of Pelham Manor, Westchester County. To reduce the impact on drivers and keep traffic flowing efficiently, the work is being accelerated into a 96-hour window, according to a release from AAA New York.

Construction will begin Tuesday, August 6th and is scheduled to be completed by Saturday, August 10th.

“Although the work is being done very rapidly, the diversion of Hutch traffic has the potential of being another Carpocalypse,” said Robert Sinclair Jr. manager of media relations for AAA New York in the release.

Hutchinson River Parkway traffic will be maintained using the Route 1 on and off ramps. Boston Post Road will be closed to through traffic at the Hutchinson River Parkway and traffic will be detoured onto Interstate 95.

AAA is warning drivers to anticipate significant traffic delays locally and on Interstate 95. The road service group is advising drivers to plan alternate routes and allow enough travel time on these days.
