Air Quality Alert, Thunderstorms in Forecast

New Rochelle and Pelham are under an air quality alert until 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The alert was issued by the state Department of Environmental Conservation for the entire county of Westchester.

Ozone in the outside is deemed to be greater than the air quality index of 100 and therefore caution is urged for those who might be sensitive to pollution or have pre-existing conditions such as asthma or heart disease.

With highs in the low 90s, coupled with high humidity, there is a chance Tuesday afternoon for showers and thunderstorms. There is also a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday evening.

The forecast calls for a high in the low 90s Wednesday and a high near 90 for Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
