Exhibit Featuring Works by Raymond J. Steiner at The Schoolhouse Theater and Gallery

The Schoolhouse Theater and Gallery will offer theatergoers and art enthusiasts alike the opportunity to view the works of local artist Raymond J. Steiner on exhibit March 13 through April 20. The exhibit, called "Revealing Nature," will be on display in conjunction with the stage production of the Tony-nominated play, The Seafarer, written by the award-winning, Irish playwright Conor McPherson. The Seafarer will run from March 13 through April 6.

Raymond J. Steiner resides in Saugerties with his wife, Cornelia Seckel, with whom he helped found Art Times, a literary journal he edits. In addition to authoring hundreds of essays, reviews, critiques and several books, he has lectured extensively on art-related topics locally and in Europe.

Landscape painting has been an avocation of Steiner's for some years. His method has primarily been to paint on site, alla prima, using a palette knife rather than a brush, in order to capture spontaneous impressions. He has had several one-person shows and has been included in many group shows both in the Hudson Valley and New York City. Visit RaymondJSteiner.com for his artwork, and writing. Steiner's blog can be read at rjsteiner.wordpress.com

Schoolhouse patron, Lee Pope, who curated the show, said, "Beyond his literary accomplishments, Raymond has always been a consummate painter of landscapes. With his work he not only reveals--he connects."
