Fat Joe once referred to The Bronx as the “Jerusalem of Hip-Hop". Unfortunately, the hip-hop homeland has lost steam since the genre’s early years. A short time ago, a new trail has been blazed for The Bronx with the release of GNK by YC The Cynic & Frank Drake. Newcomer Vithym is walking on this same trail. As a member of the South Bronx’s Rebel Diaz Arts Collective, he has his roots deeply embedded into his borough. “Aqueduct Walk”—named after an actual park in the Bronx—has the rapper teaming up with Frank Drake and Luss. Their vivid narrative is about drug use, poverty, and lost innocence. Perhaps, a song like “Aqueduct Walk” can keep The Bronx on its feet.
