Though the Pelham Memorial High School has been around since 1930, it wasn't until 2005 that the area's sixth,More seventh and eighth graders got a building to call their own.</p> <p>Pelham Middle School eases the transition from elementary to high school by offering its students a rigorous academic program, within an intimate and supportive class setting. About 24 teachers make up the major discipline area classes and team-teaching helps foster a close rapport between students and teachers.</p> <p>At PMS, students engage in a host of enriching subjects including the Renaissance, foreign language (Spanish, French, Latin or Italian), art and cross-discipline studies, such as design and engineering in science, math and technology.</p> <p>Students are exposed to multiple uses of technology when they study biotechnology and digital music (among other topics) in the school's new technology suite and have a chance to pursue their passions outside of the classroom when they choose from a hosts of extra-curricular clubs and sports to join.</p>

The State Legislature incorporated the Town of Pelham on March 7, 1788 and the Village of Pelham was incorporated into the town in 1896.</p> <p>Today, the verdant parks and local Fifth Avenue shops give the Village of Pelham the quaint suburban feel, yet its proximity to Manhattan (just 29 minutes to Grand Central Station via MetroNorth's New Haven line), grants residents in need of a big-city-fix easy access to bustling Manhattan.</p> <p>The Village's day-to-day government operations take place at Village Hall on Sparks Place where the building inspector, clerks, treasurers, section-eight HUD workers and governments officials all work.
