Matthew Scampoli, Neighbor

I have been photographing people and events for more than 25 years. I started at about age 7 with a point-and-click camera, and after inheriting a pro-level film camera in my teens, soon became the go-to family member for documenting family events - from Christenings, to birthdays to weddings.

My serious hobby took a dramatic turn when I landed a job as a photographer for La Follia New York Magazine in 1992, and began to photograph debutants, political dignitaries, models, celebrities, musicians and sports stars. Since then, my photographs have appeared in magazines, newspapers and internet journals.

I have been a resident of Pelham for 12 years. In 2009, I founded MJS Photo Pro from my home. Today we are an all-digital company specializing in event photography, portraiture, and sporting events throughout the New York Metro area.

I frequently get asked, "how can I get my pictures to look better?" My blog aims at presenting some friendly advice that I would give to a friend or family member, relying on my own experience as well as tips and tricks I've learned from other photographers.
