NYPD Officer Indicted in Connection with Drunken Pelham Shooting
The victim and his friend were driving home from a recreational hockey game when NYPD Off. Brendan Cronin allegedly opened fire.
New York City Police Officer Brendan Cronin Thursday was indicted on charges of attempted murder and drunken driving in connection with the late-April shooting of a man in Pelham.
The victim, Joseph Felice, survived and has sued the NYPD, Commissioner William Bratton and Cronin for $90 million, according to WABC-TV.
Cronin was off-duty at the time. He walked up to the car Felice and Robert Borrelli were sitting in, which was stopped at a traffic light, and began shooting. He was arrested by Pelham police near the scene moments later.
The attack was reportedly unprovoked, and Cronin admitted he had 10 drinks prior to the incident, writes The Journal News.
According to WABC-TV, Felice was struck six times but Borrelli was not hit and was able to rush his friend to the hospital. Both Felice and Borrelli are from New Rochelle.
